Since retiring as a music
educator, Gloria Herauf
has seen her dream became reality with the formation of Yorkton
Community Theatre and its first production of
"Oklahoma!" in
2000. Since then Gloria, along with an army of happy volunteers and
talented performers, has directed and produced
"Hello Dolly!",
"Crazy For You", "Music
Man" and "My Fair
Lady”, "Annie Get Your Gun"
and "Fiddler on the Roof".
In her former life of teaching and coordinating
classroom music, Gloria also conducted workshops for teachers,
directed countless children's musicals & performing groups, as well
as recording and producing CDs for classroom teachers. In 1993, Gloria was
awarded the
Governor General's Canada 125 Medal; in 1999, she
received the
Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence
and in 2001, she received the
Saskatchewan Music Educators Association
Honorary Life Membership Award. In 2004,
YCT received a
Volunteer Award
at the Chamber of Commerce Celebrate Success Business Awards Night.
Gloria and husband Les are a team, working together in all aspects
of the show and she literally could not do it without his support
and effort. They currently reside on Vancouver Island. |
